We stayed pretty much at home - did not go to town, just relaxed. Kelsey was pretty tired from the travel the days before. Rick and I slept till noonish
and Kelsey slept till 4 in the afternoon. We watched a movie, and Satu fixed what she said was a traditional Finnish dish consisting of Pasta and ground beef, milk and eggs. It was tasty :)
Later in the evening, I would say about 8:30 or 9:00 we went to Sauna. That was a wonderful experience. Even tho it took me time to actually get into the lake. We all know what a sauna is, according to the American version. I think that the Finnish Sauna is more like the native American version. I don't know. It is a small building with a water tank attached to a small stove. There you burn wood, I dont think it is any special kind. There are rocks in a type of well (you might describe it as such) sitting on top of the stove. Now because the stove is in the small building with wood benches - it gets pretty warm in there -- oh yes it does! So you dip into the water that you are heating in the water tank, and pour the water onto the hot rocks -- guess what... that creates steam, which makes it hotter! when you get really warm - you go outside and jump into the lake! What fun was that - although it took me much time and coxing from Satu and Heidi to get into the lake - it was rather cold. But I finally did it a few times and it was rather refreshing. I saw the sun begin to set below the hills, it was quite beautiful as it reflected on the lake. I hope to take a picture or two on another day to share. If not, well I have the image in my mind, and it is quite lovely.
Going to bed at 1 am seems to be a normal time here - as it does not get dark, at least not as I know it living in Portland Oregon.
